Since the 1980s, economic reforms and globalization have fundamentally transformed China's social structure. Every aspect of life has become increasingly commercialized. Traditional values, behavior, and ideals have all been shaken to their foundations. It seems that consumption is now the ultimate goal, and an entire nation is in the throes of "consumer mania".

Throughout this extraordinary period, Chinese artists have cast a sharp eye on the metamorphosis of Chinese society.
